The Joys of Conscious Listening and Other Dimensions!

Creator and teacher of the Conscious Listening™ method, Hsing-ay Hsu joyfully curates a classical piano recital program of five composers from five different times, in a sonic story that illuminates human consciousness in a   multi-dimensional way.

“There are a lot more layers to our inner landscapes than we will ever realize, but concert music can help us notice some of what’s there. The conscious mind is capable of attending at most six or seven things at once, while the rest of the nervous system is unconsciously performing thousands. What would happen if listening to music helps us connect to other people, places, times, and other censored parts of ourselves that we didn’t know were there?

“In talking about layers of consciousness, or the mind-body-heart connection, I will suggest integrating different parts through multiple lenses into something coherent. When I expand my conscious listening through music, I expand how I listen to myself and to others, and I hope you will find this process meaningful and full of surprise associations!”

The program will feature works by Mozart, Debussy, Poulenc, Pärt, Bricusse/Newley, and Mussorgsky.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students through high school, and can be purchased here and also at the door the night of the performance. Parking is always free.
